Labour MP Keith Vaz tabled an early day motion in the House of Commons Tuesday about the allegedly racist comments made about Indian actress Shilpa Shetty by fellow contestants on the reality show 'Big Brother'.
Vaz said members of his Leicester East constituency had contacted him about alleged racism on the Channel 4 show.
Television regulator Ofcom said it had received thousands of complaints about alleged racism against Shetty.
The early day motion (EDM) reads: 'This House views with concern the comments made about Big Brother contestant Shilpa Shetty by other housemates; believes that Big Brother has a role to play in preventing racist behaviour in the Big Brother house; regrets that these comments have been made; and calls on the programme to take urgent action to remind housemates that racist behaviour is unacceptable.'
EDMs are used by MPs to highlight an issue and appear on the Commons Order Paper each day.
Vaz said: 'I have been contacted by constituents who have expressed concern that apparently racist comments in the Big Brother house have passed without any response from the Big Brother programme.
'We would not tolerate this kind of racism on other types of television programme and we should not do so on a programme that is watched by millions of people.'  Email this story to a friend

I agree and feel that Jade is the ringleader especially as on her on she continually attacks Shilpa. Teddy Sheringham also needs to look at who he is attaching himself to. Jo was in a pop group and is looked up to by teenagers of all walks of life.Take the wicked bitches out of the programme now !!!

Big brother should automatically remove Jade, Danielle, Jack and Jo. They all need to face the music for their continued attacks on Shilpa. What must Jermaine Shilpa and Dirk think of us Brits we’re not all tarred with the same evilness.

also jack made a racist comment caling her a paki. which was bleeped out! if no other swear words are beeped out then why was his? he obviously said i hate that paki in conversation with Jade!!! there is a race issue clearly...

Disappointed! Get them off!
Despite living in multi-cultural Britain we still have idiots like Jo, Danielle, Jack and Jade who fail to understand other people’s culture. There bullying just shows how ignorant they are. Jade is only famous for flashing her boobs, and her toy boy Jack is probably only after money which she didn’t deserve in the first place. Jack needs to be punished for calling her a “paki”. It was past the watershed yet the word was bleeped out. Disgusting. Get rid of these stupid people.

This is 100% bullying. BB would not tolerate any forms of bullying or racist attacks yet they have not taken any actions against the stupid bitches and that asshole Jack. People don’t tolerate it in the workplace or at school so why should they tolerate it in a reality tv show? Agree with everyone else get rid of big tits (Jade), toy boy (Jack), dumb WAG (Danielle) and Poodle Jo (Jo).

Its fun let it be as they are
Its fun to see them like that in BIG brother show.. I think this show is not just to show good but to show how individual is. We know some Britishers are racist..which they can’t avoid. May be some are jealous of Shilpa. But Shilpa is truly reflecting indian woman — Nice, Soft, and real woman :).

i thought it ws awful
i felt that jade danielle, jo and jack wer all extremely ignorant i didn’t feel ther ws a racial issuse concerning jade but all the rest wer....racism is disgusting
and it definitely SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED!!!!
shilpa has class unlike the rest of them!!!!
